Technically correct
The dictionary lists both definitions of "bimonthly" as being correct, but "occurring every two months" is the first definition. Honest Opinions voters disagree, as 59% of you think the word really means twice a month. The debate will likely continue, however, as readers on both side of the issue made strong arguments in the comments.

"Biannual is every other year, semiannual is twice per year. Why wouldn't bimonthly be every other month?"
—Kieran Egan
"Bimonthly every two months. Biweekly is every two weeks. I used to file ads for my family business and I learned from that."
