June 2, 2009 at 3:00 pm I installed the Google Talk App. after purchasing my Logitech QuickCam Pro.  Shortly after began using video chat regularly until recently when my video icon stopped appearing next to my name in my chat window.  I am currently using Windows Vista (SP1/2 installed) with the Chrome browser.  The GC task manager shows the talk plugin running, yet my chat window and gmail settings refuse to acknowledge this.   I have uninstalled/reinstalled the plugin as well as the camera; neither resolved the issue. But as a new user, I have never seen it and don't even know where I would find it. All I want to do is label one person as a contact, and I'll be damned if I can figure out how to do that. Right before i encountered the problem, i was uninstalling rarely used programs and deleting files and folders I didn't recognize. I still have quicktime and java, and my camera is working fine. I encounter the problem in chrome and firefox. It will either not install at all (chrome) or it will install but not detect devices (firefox). What do I do? Question from withoutaleaf in Gmail - Contacts and Chat 1 reply Add a picture is not working on my GChat (avatar) June 2, 2009 at 11:10 am I changed my photo a while back from one that worked fine (I could see it, so could people chatting with me) to one that was too large.  I removed the too large file right away but ever since then if I click add a picture next to my name in GChat, it takes me to the page, displays the old file that was too big, and when I upload a new photo from either the web or my hard drive, it changes it on the screen before I hit "save changes" only to display NOTHING again when I return to my inbox. Every time I go back it has the most recent photo I changed to on the add photo page, removing it and starting anew does not help. Anyone have any tips here?  Thank you in advance. Most of them automatically came back, some of them showed up as "invited" and then eventually came back.   However, after 50 people, the contacts will not go into chat. I send the invite to chat, it says the invite was sent successfully, but they dont show up in my chat list (which i have set as "show all contacts) not even as "invited," its like they disappear. So instead of just inviting to chat, i added them to contacts, then they show up as a contact but wont show up as a chat contact, they simply have no "dot" or "invited" status.   I tried logging in and back out, I waited overnight, I tried the old version and I tried another computer...I dont know what else to try!   How can I add back the rest of my contacts? June 2, 2009 at 9:49 am Question from sandun.perera in Gmail - Contacts and Chat 1 reply can't add friends to gchat after using spanning sync June 2, 2009 at 9:46 am Hello, I recently downloaded a trial version of Spanning Sync to see if it'd be worth buying, since I use my Mac Address Book quite a lot but am not sure I want to switch completely to Mac's Mail since I love Gmail's interface.  After seeing too many duplicates that weren't properly merging, I decided to try another option in Spanning Sync which would delete all contacts from Gmail's contact list and import whatever was in my Mac Address Book.  And it worked like a charm.  Expect, that it deleted all my contacts in gchat.  I'm a patient person so I went through my address book and manually re-invited everyone once again, but no one shows up.  I have friends from gchat that are also on my msn and skype so I was able to talk to them at the same time.  Not only could they not see me online, but apparently my invites were never sent to them as well. Any suggestions?  I use gchat for the majority of any of my online 'chatting' and it's going to be a problem if I am not able to ever re-add my friends to communicate with them.  thanks. At the top right hand corner, it shows how many chats I have. Right now, it that corner says "1-100 of thousands Older>". Question from 21johnk in Gmail - Contacts and Chat 1 reply GMAIL Video Chat June 1, 2009 at 9:16 pm I have been trying to connect via GMAIL video chat with another party who is in Europe.  When we use SKPYE, we both can see and hear each other (although the connection is terrible).  When we try and do the same in GMAIL Video Chat we have perfect audio but I can not see the other party.  They can see and hear me just fine (100 times better than in SKYPE).  As I tested my VIDEO CHAT with others on my list, it works perfectly which makes me believe there is something wrong on their end.  They are using a Microsoft LifeCam NX-6000 and I am using a Logitech 9000 web cam.  Any ideas on what the fix may be?  Thanks in advance.
