| I downloaded video chat software, but I don't see any icon or menu item on my gmail home page to turn it on to begin using it. dumb question I know, but would appreciate help on this

| My yahoo email has been hacked by using a Gmail account. How to report abuse against that gmail account?

My Yahoo email 'nree_nree@yahoo.com' has been
hacked on 14 May 2009. Anupam Chakrobary (date of birth: 13-11-1977), the person
responsible for this hacking of my yahoo email ID and he knew my personal
details and password quite confidently.
On 14 May 2009, he hacked my
account from Bangladesh, changed the password and he added a new email in the alternative email
which is anupam1311@gmail.com without informing me. Since then I can not access
my email.
How to report abuse against that gmail account?

| Hello can anyone tell me why when I am on a video chat it shuts off and like disables or uninstalls the plug in... It's happened more than once; and it is extremely annoying.

| Can people automatically see me if I downloaded videochat?

| There is a camera icon by my name, but when I click on people's names (to chat), a text box appears - even for those who have a video icon by their name. I have begun wondering, though, if people I've been chatting with have been able to see me all along and I've just been unaware of it. Is it possible that downloading video chat has allowed people to see me without my being aware of it? What does the computer show me to let me know that I am being video streamed to someone I'm chatting with??

| i have been recieving hate mail from someone called googlieyes, he has
called me a PUTA,(whore) and a liar and alot more, he/she is abusive
to me the whole time. I get about 5 emails a day and there becoming
more. He sends the mails via my blog. Because i have statecounter, i
have his IP adress which is in Canada. But i think his useing a proxy.
I have contacted the internet provider in canada and ive contacted
google on webmasters ( but im worride they wont as usual do anything).
But now theres another development, i saw on statcounter that he'd
been in my proflle on blog and went and looked and he has added text
to "my books i read" saying something like see my photos here: with a
link to my picassa webalbums.
Now im worride because this guys/gals name is nearlly google, and i
know im not liked to much by companys like google, but could this be a
google emloyer; i find it hard to beleive this and would they go this
low?
But i cant understand any other way someone could get into my edite
profile, and also i have noticed that after i posted the intreasting G
adresses of google, my post on the help forums dont show up anymore in
my help forum profile they stopped on May 9. They do show up as
numbers , but not the posts and i cant get back to my posts on this
forum anymore. Please look at my profile and youll see this.
Tomorrow i will be taking the statcounter info and emails to the dutch
police and i hope they can help because i dont know if i trust google
anymore and so dont expect any help from my trying to contact them.
Also i will be posting this problem to other sites like Microsoft and so on until google look into this problem.
i do this because i have had the usual google reply of change your password, just now, which i did yesterday and today.
And which since then the problem has got bigger.
but also because i have added my google blogger to my windows live account and mr googlieyes has been into that profile as well via my blogger link.
i dont like being called a whore in any language and not by anyone, even if there name is googlieyes ( which sounds like google to me)

| Alphabetical listing of downloaded list of contacts

| I have imported My Contacts from another account and they are listed alphabeticaly by their "Display As" name instead of by their "Name"(last name). How can I rearrange the names so that they are listed alphabeticaly by their last name (they are so listed in my contact of the imported account.

| Today June 4th my email sent out this mass mail to all my contacts. I had received this from another friend but not opened it. Now I have lost all my contacts too. Do I need to close down the account, change mulitiple passwords.... Does anyone know how to get back my contacts. I feel so violated. Is anyone stopping this person from this. Google --- anyone!

| When you select the photo in your gmail it says that is will be available in all qoogle services that show your photo. What services does it mean? This will happen even if i have it set to be visible only to those i chat with?
If i change my photo, how long does it take to be updated? I have set mine 3 days ago and still my friends cant see it (although i can in my settings) thanksu

| I hope this isn't too noobish a question, but I have been unable to find an answer even after repeatedly searching the help forum.
I and many other people like to use asterisks, underscores and hyphens for emphasis or emoticons. It is therefore quite irritating when I try to type this:
Yeah, that *really* gets on my nerves.
but instead get this:
Yeah, that really gets on my nerves.
Much more annoying than that is when I try to type the common emoticon -_- but instead get something that looks like an equals sign. Is there some way to turn this off? I haven't had any luck.

| Whenever, I sign into gmail, it automatically signs into AIM. I understand that this is because I never signed off from aim before logging out of google. However, I was jsut wondering whether there was a way to make it so AIM doesn't automatically sign in when I open gmail. Thanks!

| I followed the instruction for importing my address from verizon into gmail. However when I go to type the person name in the send box, I don't get a drop down mirror should all the address with that particular letter. With verizon if I type the letter "C", I'll get a drop down with all addresses beginning in the letter "C". Do I have to first correspond with the person before the name automatically appear in the send to box?

| Chat within gmail stuck on loading

| OK, I have 2 Gmail accounts. Within
the chat section of gmail, my primary account is stuck on "Loading..." I also use Google Talk on both accounts. For
my primary account, when I try to log in to the Talk client, the status
continually flashes "Signing in" without a constant connection.
Email works just fine, so at least I still have that.
For the second
account, there are no problems of any kind, either within the Talk
client or within the Chat section of gmail. I can log in without any
issues.
Because this happens on only one account, it rules out a firewall problem.
And
because this happens on 2 different computers (my PC and laptop), it rules out incorrect
software installation and cache issues. It appears that the one account is impacted on Google's side. Please advise

| In yahoo chat, you can choose a status for individual contacts that they will see instead of them seeing your general one. This is really useful if you only have a little time and want to get online to chat with one person, but don't want to get flooded with greetings from the rest of your contact list that you then have to deal with. It's not like blocking, because they're still your contacts, it's just that can choose when individual contacts can see you available and when they can't. I really like this feature and have been looking for something similar in Google Talk and especially in Google Gmail Chat, but I can't seem to find out how to do it or if it's even available. Can someone help? Thanks!

| re-install driver and application, but still doesn't work

| I have used google voice and video chat for 2 months, but yesterday
after my laptop crashed, and I re-opened gmail, google voice and video
doesn't work.I re-installed the application, it still doesn't work, and I re-installed the driver of my camera and tried
it in Chrome, IE8, Firefox 3.0, all of them couldn't work. I also tried
to delete the file "googletalkplugin_port" in folder--
C:\Document and Settings\....\Local Settings\Application Data\Google, but it still doesn't work.
All the screen stop on the "detect device", stick and frozen on that screen.
But
my camera is working in MSN and Skype, so I think that's probably not
the problem of my camera. And I remeber, I have ever checked when I
doing video chat with my friends, there is a GoogleTalkPlugIn.exe would
reveal in the TaskManager. But now it disappers, whatever I download
and install, it doesn't appear.
please help me. Thx a lot!

| Building contact group from contacts NOT in general contact list; and auto-adding contacts from emails.

| Two related questions:
1. Can I add build a contact group of contacts NOT in my general contacts? I want a group of my students to be in a contact group, but I don't really want to clutter up my general contact list with them.
2. Can I extract email addresses from a set of emails in one go? I have a folder (on another email account, but I could import it into gmail) with emails from all the students in question. Is there some way of instructing gmail to construct a contact list out of the senders of all those emails in one go (as opposed to going through each mail one by one and adding the sender to the group)?

| Instant Messaging section reset IM type to "none"

| Hello,
I noticed it today:
every Instant Messaging entry in all my contacts had the IM type reset to "none" and if I try to fix them, everytime I save contact's informations, It goes back to "none" again.
Maybe this has something to do with Exchange sync I made with my Nokia phone (lately uninstalled because it had too many bugs).
Some help to fix those IM entries?

| Deleting aim contacts that are prepopulated when trying to compose an email

| When I compose an email, the prepopulated contacts contain aol email addresses loaded from my aim chat list, I cannot delete contacts through the normal process by going to contacts then invididually removing them, this list only has gmail contacts and not aim contacts. Deleting the aim contacts, still leaves me with that same email address, 'xxx@aol.com' in my prepopulated contacts when I compse an email.

| Why is the sound on my chat notification so intermittent?

| My cousin and I chat regularly on Google chat (I use Google Chrome, and she uses Internet Explorer). Sometimes the top bar turns orange and dings, but most of the time it doesn't (and there is no correlation between when I ding and when she does). We both have our settings set to enable sound, and the fact that we sometimes get sound and sometimes don't shows that our settings are working. But we want to understand why we can't get the notifications either always on or always off.
