| i get the "invite to chat" message for a contact i've been chatting with before. all of a sudden the little circle by his name is gone. he still has his gmail account. the circle doesn't even disappear when you log out of gmail chat, so how is it possible for it to just go away?

| I was wondering if there was functionality to join an AIM Group Chat from GChat. I know how to do it with Google users but not with AIM users. I figure the protocols are different and that's probably why it isn't possible but if there is a way, can someone tell me? If not, will the feature ever be added?

| Most of the chats are recorded but I seem to loose the odd one and sometimes there is useful information that I want to revisit. When I initially logged in this morning, my chat from last night seemed to be there but when I tried to get into it to reread it, it dissapaered. Any suggestions?

| in chat from starting automatically if someone tries to cam with you first? I have a mac, and it automatically shows that I'm cam available and doesn't even ask if I want to. Just automatically starts up if someone turns there's on and messages me if I have the gmail open.
So I'd like to know how to either turn if off or at least ask me if I want to accept or use it first.

| hello,
i have a very good and close friend who died on the 21/5/2009 while climbing mount "zeruya" in the Israeli desert.
i used to delete old messages from him, also emptying my trash. which
means that old messages from him, with pics and conversations we used
to have via mail are now lost forever.
so my question is this, is it maybe possible to recover them from somewhere in Gmail servers? please...
it is very important for me, i will understand if it's not possible, but i pray to the lord that it is.

| I removed a few people from my contacts, g-chat, and g-talk and because the mere sight of their name makes me CRINGE. And I certainly don't want them to see when I'm online.

I tried to search to see if someone posted something similar but didn't see anything.
I was wondering if we could have tags for the contacts list/address book in Gmail, similar to how you're able to tag your browser bookmarks.
I know you can sort contacts into groups, but what if people fall into more than 1 group? It'd be easier to assign multiple relevant tags to each contact (e.g. "Class of 2007", "New York friends" etc.), so that when you want to email everyone of 1 particular tag you can sort & find them easily.
I know you can sort of pull this off with the search function by writing informal "tags" in the "Notes" section, but I still think real tags would be better. If gmail had a formal contacts tagging system, then it would list all available tags, and you could just click on one & have everyone with that tag listed. Otherwise, I'd forget what I tagged people as and get frustrated when searching for them.
Sorry if this idea has been proposed already, or if I'm just stupid and couldn't find this feature. But I'd be super happy if we had Gmail contacts tags!!

| I dont know its happening again with me, my gmail page opens and i can check everything my mails and all but caht does not load, i shows chat is loading every time.
And no problem is not with my proxy server,internet connection or some softwares, I have tried other account and they working fine..so problem is with my gmail account.
I think you guys have blocked considering it spam or something like that..kindly unblock it..

| I set up Contacts under Friends by pasting seperate alpabetical addresses from another service. (each letter seperate 20-30 each letter). When I forwarded an email, I sent seperate alphabetic letters as BCC addresses individually. They do not show up as Sent? Was this the correct method of setting up Friends or do they have to be entered one address at a time?

| Has anyone else had an issue with birthdays insisting on shifting from what you set it? I can correct the date on my phone and within a few minutes after the sync has updated everything, the date is wrong. It can be either 1 or 5 days off. The only syncing at that time would be my Moto Q WM5 smartphone and my gmail account. Other sync points were not on.

| All contacts (1100ish) were removed from my account. Not sure what happened - maybe a syncing issue - but all of my sources that point to the Gmail contacts have been emptied as well. I've since reloaded a backup that is still missing about 2 or 3 hundred. Is there anyway for Google to revert to my contacts from a week ago? Also, what caused this issue, and how do we prevent it?

| I have previously been able to click on my Contacts to review my list, add, or edit via my groups. Today, I cannot bring up my Contacts when clicking on it. Is there a termporary problem?? Actually, I wanted to add an contact and assign to a group. I use standard format, not HTML format. When I click on CONTACTS nothing seems to happen, my Contacts did not come up as previously done. I changed to HTML and could bring up my Contacts list, but no groups option or add option appeared, only ALL CONTACTS and search. Hughpenn1949@gmail.com

| Many a times, when I reply an email, and press ' reply to all ' its sends out the mail to all on the list. Then when I want to send out an email and press ' say A ' all the names with A appear, and majority of these I do not want,as they were on the Reply to All list, but want to delete them. and keep what I need. | All my friends can see my picture, but I can't see it! When I go to settings it says it is there, but when I roll my cursor over my name, it says to add picture and shows nothing!!! When I chat, it just shows nothing except the "No Picture" thing. It has been this way for over a month now, can someone help me with this????
