Sleep Diary

Congratulations! By making an appointment with your doctor to discuss your sleeplessness, you're taking an important step in treating this condition. Make the most out of your appointment by filling out a sleep diary the week before your visit. Print one here. Also, don't forget to prepare yourself with some questions for your visit. Print them here.

We all have nights where our sleep is less than perfect. How common is this? According to the National Institute of Health (NIH), at least 70 million Americans suffer from sleep disorders each year. Even though sleeplessness is a nighttime problem, it can have serious consequences on your day, such as:

• Fatigue and daytime sleepiness
• Moodiness such as irritability or anger
• Lack of concentration and poor memory
• Upset stomach
• Mistakes/accidents at work or while driving

If you're taking an OTC sleep aid and are not satisfied, there are a few things you should know.

OTC sleep aids:
• may only help you fall asleep.
• are not intended for long-term use.
• often contain ingredients you may not want
or need like pain relievers and anti-allergy
  medicines, not designed for sleep.
• may not completely stop working after 8
  hours, according to the FDA.

Talk to your doctor to see if 2-layer AMBIENCR is right for you. It could be the difference between falling asleep and staying asleep.

* Maximum benefit is $20 off, on up to 5 prescriptions, depending on your out-of-pocket costs. Not valid for patients participating in Medicare, Medicaid, government (public insurance) programs, or any private payor in the state of Massachusetts and where prohibited by law.

AMBIEN CR is indicated to help you fall asleep and/or stay asleep.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

AMBIEN CR is a treatment option you and your doctor can consider along with lifestyle changes and can be taken for as long as your doctor recommends. Sleepwalking, and eating or driving while not fully awake, with amnesia for the event, as well as behaviors such as being more outgoing or aggressive than normal, confusion, agitation, and hallucinations have been reported. Don't take it with alcohol as it may increase these behaviors. In patients with depression, worsening of depression, including risk of suicidal thoughts or actions may occur. If you experience any of these behaviors contact your doctor immediately. In rare cases sleep aids may cause severe allergic reactions such as swelling of your tongue or throat or shortness of breath or more severe results. If you have an allergic reaction while using AMBIEN CR, contact your doctor immediately. Side effects may include next-day drowsiness, dizziness and headache. AMBIEN CR has some risk of dependency. It's non-narcotic.
